Designing a garden shouldn’t feel overwhelming. At Landscape Design Group, we make the process simple, collaborative, and—even better—exciting. If you’re wondering what it’s actually like to work with a professional garden designer and builder, this is your behind-the-scenes look.

From our first conversation to the final planting, every step is thoughtful, structured, and tailored to you. Here's how it all works.

1. Your Private Video Consultation Call

Clarity. Strategy. Expert advice—before anything is designed.

We start every project with a tailored video consultation designed to give you real value from day one. It’s a focused session where we share insight, provide strategic advice, and help you understand what it truly takes to create a successful garden transformation.

This is not a sales pitch—it’s your opportunity to speak one-on-one with a senior design consultant who understands the process inside out.

Clarifying Your Garden Goals & Wishlist

We’ll explore how you use your garden, what’s not working, and what you want to achieve. Whether it’s better flow, an outdoor kitchen, lighting design, or a complete reimagination—we’ll help turn your thoughts into a clear, actionable brief.

Answers to Your Most Pressing Questions

This is your time to ask anything—from material options and planning permission to layout possibilities or style inspiration. We’ll bring clarity and professional insight to help guide your decision-making.

Realistic Investment Guidance

You’ll get honest advice on what’s possible at different levels of investment—so you can plan with confidence and avoid underestimating the scope or quality required.

What It Really Takes to Get It Right the First Time

We’ll walk you through the exact steps needed for a seamless, professionally managed design and build process—so you avoid common mistakes, delays, or costly missteps.

Clarity on Whether This is the Right Partnership

We only take on a select number of projects to maintain the highest level of service. This call helps us determine if we’re the right partner for you—and if there’s alignment, we’ll offer to move forward together.

You’ll come away with clarity, direction, and expert insight—regardless of whether we move ahead. It’s your first step toward a garden that feels like it was always meant to be yours.

2. Site Survey

Time to see the space in person.

Next, we visit your property for a comprehensive site survey. We’ll take measurements, levels, and photos, and look at access, existing materials, drainage and surrounding features. It’s also a chance for you to walk us through how you use your space.

This technical foundation ensures everything we design is practical, buildable, and suited to your lifestyle.

3. 2D Concept Design

Where your ideas start to come to life.

We create a 2D layout plan that outlines zones, flow, and the key elements of your new garden. Whether you want a dining terrace, outdoor kitchen, fire pit, or a beautiful planting scheme—we start shaping the layout here.

You’ll also receive a mood board with style references, materials and a palette that matches your taste. We present this to you in person or over video call, and invite feedback before moving forward.

4. Planting Plan

Led by our in-house horticultural expert.

Once the concept is approved, we create a detailed planting plan tailored to your design, soil conditions and sun exposure. Whether you’re after bold seasonal colour or structured, evergreen simplicity—we’ll curate a planting scheme that matures beautifully and reflects your style.

5. 3D Design Reveal

See your new garden—before we build it.

This is where everything clicks. Our realistic 3D visuals allow you to walk through your new garden, view materials, scale and lighting in context, and experience the design from multiple angles.

It’s your chance to truly visualise how your space will look and feel—before a single stone is laid.

6. Lighting Plan

Because gardens should shine after dark.

A well-designed lighting plan is a game changer. Whether it’s subtle uplighting on trees, backlit corten steel panels, or discreet path lights—we design lighting that adds atmosphere and safety without overpowering the garden.

We’ll integrate it seamlessly with your layout and electrical access points, so it works as beautifully as it looks.

7. Build

From paper to reality—delivered by our in-house team.

We don’t just design—we build. Unlike many garden designers, we have our own in-house construction team, meaning the handover from design to build is completely seamless. No outside contractors. No disconnect. No stress.

Our skilled landscapers work closely with the design team to ensure the final result matches the vision down to the last detail. From groundwork to paving, walling, structures and planting—we manage the full construction in-house.

8. Aftercare & Ongoing Support

We’re not done when the project ends.

Once your garden is complete, we’re still here to help. From planting aftercare to seasonal refreshes and garden improvements—we’re happy to support you long after the build is done.

We also offer check-ins to ensure your plants are thriving and your garden continues to work for your lifestyle.
